Making good headway

The Fury project is well under way now.

Apart from the sound, I've got the bulk of the platform specific code out of the way and progress is a great deal quicker.

I've almost finished the language selection screens, and so I'm hoping to make a start on the game proper during next week.

Fury project

I tried a number of different graphics cards today and had a bit of a shock. Whilst my Voodoo was perfectly happy with what I've been doing, the majority of cards just show white blocks. It was a simple fix, but it took a long time to track down the problem. I think it's all sorted now.

Timer test available for both platforms

This differs from the Intro test really only in that it now uses a real time clock to synchronise the frames and does not rely on your graphics card frame rate.

Intro test available for both platforms

The complete animation for the intro movie is done. Fade up and fade down, varying frame rates for the different sections and synchronisation to the screen frame rate.

Still left to do: sound effects and music.

I've been playing this game on and off for 10 years. Monday was the first time I noticed that the language selection screen responds to a mouse.

Now I have to buy a Dreamcast Mouse.

Decompressor test available for DC

This has the same features as the PC version below. It needs an original distribution of `Fury of the Furries' which it will look for on the root of a CD.

Keeping the code streams in step for the PC and DC versions is proving to be extremely arduous at the moment. The main problem is that KallistiGL is so rarefied that I'm having to tread very carefully so as not to do things on the PC which I can't recreate on the Dreamcast. Once the bulk of the core operations are completed and tested (textures, clock, animation, sound) then the process will be a lot easier.

Decompressor test available for PC

The first FSMs are up and running, and the first decompressor is working. This test loads a font file and uses it to display messages, file version, and a randomly chosen password from the security protection sheet.

To try out this program you will need at least the `LANG.DAT' file from an original `Fury of the Furries' distribution.
